§     Graduated from the University of Lethbridge obtaining both a Bachelor of Arts majoring in history and a Bachelor of education majoring in social studies education

§     Graduted from the University of Lethbridge in April 2009 with great distinction in both my history and education degrees

§     Completed five University Transfer courses with a B+ average

§     Graduated with top honours with a 90% average in twelve courses including six provincially examinable courses

 

 

Teaching

Experience

2008          G.S. Lakie Middle School                                  Lethbridge, AB

§     As part of the Education 4700 course, I was placed in a practicum work experience with  three classes, teaching an average of 15 hours a week

§     I was given the opportunity to independently plan, teach, assess and manage a grade eight media literacy class that was personally designed and researched

§     I planned lessons all areas of the grade six social studies and science curricula as well as became an integral part of the learning community

§     In addition, I participated in many professional development projects such as the school-wide AISI project in assessment as well as coaching of the cheerleading team

 

2008          Lethbridge Collegiate Institute                         Lethbridge, AB

§     As part of the Education 3600 course, I was placed in a practicum work experience with four classes, teaching a minimum of 18 hours a week

§     At the end of my experience, I was fully responsible for every aspect of the classroom routine including writing exams, marking, attendance, classroom management and discipline

§     I planned lessons all areas of the grade nine and eleven social studies curriculum as well as worked with students’ “AP” component, an advanced placement program in Alberta

 

2006         Wilson Middle School                                         Lethbridge, AB

§     As part of the Education 3500 course, I was placed in a practicum work experience with a seventh grade language arts class, teaching a full load by end of the placement.

§     At the end of my experience, I was fully responsible for the day’s learning experiences for four different classes focusing on a WWII novel study entitled Daniel’s Story

§     I created many different learning experiences that added to the previously created novel study including many problem-based and inquiry based experiences for the students

 

2006          Fleetwood Bawden Elementary School          Lethbridge, AB

§     As part of the Education 2500 course, I was placed in a practicum work experience with a second grade class for eight hours a week

§     At the end of my experience I was responsible for many of the daily activities including the morning date and sharing, as well as the daily spelling

§     I also planned lessons in other various topic areas such as social studies and language arts

 

 

Other Work

Experience

Jan. 2007- Current          University of Lethbridge Lethbridge, AB

Research Assistant/Teachers Assistant

§     Received a $4000 grant in 2007 and a $5600 grant in 2008 from the Chinook Summer Research Committee to perform a variety of research on the Coming of Age in Canada During the Great Depression

§     Responsible for marking and recording exam marks during the semester for the Chair of the History department, Dr. Heidi MacDonald

§     Work in an entirely independent manner with own time management skills

 

May 2007- Current          Cheesecake Café                         Lethbridge, AB

Server

§     Responsible for all customer service needs

§     Currently work in a high volume family oriented restaurant with little or no supervision

§     Responsible for nightly closing duties and all financial transactions

 

 

 

Skills and Certificates

§     Obtained numerous scholarships throughout my University education amounting to over 3000 dollars

§     Received the Chinook Summer Research Grant for two consecutive years amounting to over 9000 dollars

§     Currently hold many service related certificates attesting to my ability to treat others with care including FoodSafe, Serving it Right and Superhost and Superhost with Disabilities

§     Analytic and creative thinker, ability to work independently or as a team-member, as well as energetic personality will be an asset to this profession
